Aurora theater shooting victims react to news of shooting
Aurora’s mayor, Steve Hogan, who was in office during the movie theater shooting this past summer, released this statement:
“We understand all too well the pain the Newtown community is feeling today and our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by the tragic event that unfolded this morning. As a fellow community that has recently experienced this type of tragedy, we stand ready to offer our assistance in every way possible to help Newtown provide the support and guidance that will be necessary for their community to begin to recover. Today’s events also remind us that we must continue to take care of ourselves and one another, as we continue to heal.”
Outside the Aurora Century 16 theater, the lights remain off as crews inside remodel the site where on July 20th, hundreds of lives were forever changed.

Oregon mall shooting appears to be lone, random rampage

CLACKAMAS, Oregon (Reuters) - A masked gunman who opened fire in a crowded Oregon mall in the middle of the holiday shopping season, killing two people and wounding a third before taking his own life, appears to have acted alone in a random rampage, police said on Wednesday.

The Kansas City Star has uncovered the details of the events that led Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher to murder Kasandra Perkins, his 22-year-old girlfriend and mother of their 3-month-old daughter, before taking his own life in front of GM Scott Pioli, head coach Romeo Crennel and linebackers coach Gary Gibbs at Chiefs headquarters on Saturday.

I am ashamed of my country today. There is a reason we are afforded the right and ability to amend our constitution!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I ask a simple question: Would you give up your guns if it would bring back those beautiful "gifts from God"?
I have decided some things are not worth the cost. I have said many times to everyone who knows me, that I loved guns and felt we should carry them openly. I no longer feel this way. The bottom line for the second amendment to our constitution is, that it was/is intended to protect us from our government. That ship has sailed, only an idiot would grasp at this as a viable reason to allow the slaughter that occurred yesterday; and thus allow another chance for this to happen in another place at another time. I would have given my life instantly to have stopped the tragedy that took place yesterday. So my right to own a weapon means nothing if having that right will allow 20 plus beautiful minds to be executed as a consequence of that right! The greatest test to constitutionality is whether one right infringes on the rights (right to live) of others. I suggest you ask the countless souls devastated yesterday, if they are glad to have their second amendment rights this morning. I NO LONGER WANT TO HEAR "GUNS DON'T KILL PEOPLE, PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE". YOU ARE A SAD AND SIMPLE PERSON IF YOU CAN'T UNDERSTAND, THAT ABSENT THE EASE OF ACCESS TO FIREARMS, THE EVENTS OF YESTERDAY WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED. AND PLEASE DON'T BE STUPID AND SAY, IF NOT GUNS HE WOULD HAVE USED OTHER METHODS. THAT IS SIMPLY IGNORANT.
