Keeping Hope

I know how easy it is to think things may never get better when times are tough. But as I sit thinking about this past year, I remember two of the most magnificent events of my life have happened in the past seven months. In May I went with my wife and my best friend Troy (Closest to a brother I have ever know for over twenty-six years...I really miss my brother) to show him around NYC, it was more fun than I have had for many, many years. This may have been partially due to the reason for his visit in the first place; which was to attend my graduation from the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy -University at Albany- State University of New York with my Bachelorette degree in Political Science. The jobs may be elusive as yet and the student loans loom near, but I did it none the less. Then just a few months later I was able to know my father for the first time in all of my life. After forty years on this earth I met my father for the first time. I am still in somewhat

Sen. Chris Dodd allowed the fall of Enron.

I found this post unpublished in the draft folder so it is a little late but still useful. I really hope Senator Obama does not pick Senator Dodd as his running mate. Senator Dodd is personally responsible for the law that allowed the crimes at Enron to occur. He initiated the veto override that passed said law. The following excerpts are from an article in the NY Times dated, Dec. 23, 1995. By NEIL A. LEWIS Published: December 23, 1995 For the first time, Congress overrode a veto by President Clinton today, as the Senate mustered the necessary two-thirds majority to enact a bill to limit stockholders' rights to file fraud suits . Because the House had voted decisively on Wednesday to override the veto, the law took effect immediately upon the Senate's action. As a result, it will be far more difficult for individual stockholders to file suits against underwriter-brokers, company officials and accountants in cases of securities fraud....... the ringmaster of the event w

Quotes

“Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” Hermann Goering “The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.” General George S. Patton “Any man whose errors take ten years to correct is quite a man.” on Albert Einstein J. Robert Oppenheimer

Well Said

When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men living together in society, they create for themselves in the course of time a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that justifies it. -Frederick Bastiat

October 6, 2002

This story took me several weeks to finish. As you notice the date I started is a month ago. I am posting this on July, 22 2009. October 6, 2002 It is a day I will remember for the rest of my life. I was working the 10pm to 6 am shift at the Bay County Jail Annex in Panama City Florida. During that time the facility was under the direction of a private company called, Corrections Corporation of America (C.C.A.). I was approaching my two year anniversary with the company, having worked my entire time in corrections at the Bay County jail and jail annex locations. It was a shift like many others. That night I was scheduled to be the "transportation" officer, which meant I would be responsible for transporting inmates to and from the annex for whatever reasons there might be. Some of those reasons might include; release from custody which was done through the downtown jail, early morning trips to the main jail downtown for holding until court, and trips to the hospital should th

Southern California girl gets dying wish to see movie 'Up' Associated Press Posted: 06/19/2009 09:16:59 AM PDT Updated: 06/19/2009 09:18:28 AM PDT HUNTINGTON BEACH — A 10-year-old Southern California girl has died after getting her last wish: to see the movie "Up." Colby Curtin of Huntington Beach had advanced vascular cancer and couldn't watch the Disney-Pixar movie in a theater. Her mother says Colby desperately wanted to see the animated film about a man who flies off in his house to fulfill a dream after his wife's death. A friend managed to contact Pixar, and on June 10 a company employee arrived with a DVD copy at Colby's house. Colby's mother says she asked her daughter if she could hang on until it arrived. The girl said she was ready to die but added: "I'm going to wait for the movie." By then, Colby couldn't open her eyes but her mother described the scenes. Colby died that night. If you are not in tears you are a sad, cold

Evil Axes

Hillary Clinton takes a substantial number of voters (female voters). John McBush names Palin as his number 2 dummy. Obama becomes the first black president, RNC names its first black (not to many to choose from) leader. Obama puts forth a plan to save our nation, what is the counter response...before I show you let me warn you...it is not a different/better plan. It is not even a plan at all. Take a look. Senator calls Obama 'world’s best salesman of socialism' Posted: 10:23 AM ET From CNN Political Producer Peter Hamby WASHINGTON (CNN) – Another prominent Republican told the Conservative Political Action Conference on Friday that the president’s spending plans are pushing the country to the brink of socialism. Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina, the only member of the senate to earn a perfect rating from the American Conservative Union, called President Obama “the world’s best salesman of socialism” on Friday in describing his prime time speech earlier this week. DeMint, a fie

Learn who should go to prison.

Above are 4 video previews (watch from top down, as they are in sequence) from a brand new PBS "Frontline" video that airs tonight at 9 eastern time. Please tune in to learn who is really responsible for stealing from America, and who should be in jail/prison. And for any pinheads who think a free market is not to blame you are correct it is low life greedy pieces of shit who look for every chance to either break the law or avoid the spirit of the laws and regulations that are in place to keep everything running smoothly so we don't face the exact issues we are now living with.

Speak out!

First let me begin by saying, if I offend you in this posting you just might in fact need to be offended. I have been watching with great concern the proceedings in Washington DC in regard to the newest economic "Stimulus" plan. Time after time elected officials from EVERYWHERE in our country, republicans and democrats alike scurry to find a T.V. camera to spew their expertise in all matters economic. I would like someone to explain to me when it became acceptable to imagine that simply because one becomes elected to hold office they then become immensely knowledgeable in all ares of life? Just because someone has an opinion on a subject does not make them smart. Every president does what they believe to be correct in assembling the persons needed to solve whatever issues that face our nation. This is done either through cabinet picks or in consulting those they feel have the best thoughts, ideas and expertise in any given area. Often times highly regarded scholars or Nobel p

I'm Back!

Well I took a little time off (As if I get paid). I would like to start by saying to everyone who stood in disagreement over the past election cycle, thank you. I also want to take this time to explain what I feel is the reason those who voted for McCain will soon be relieved he in fact lost. Our new president will create a plan using his energy policy that will in comparison, dwarf in size and scope that of the "New Deal". I submit it will be so comprehensive few will understand its impact for several years. The best way to explain its purpose is to demonstrate how and why it is needed NOW and not later. For as long as we can remember we have neglected all things related to this nations infrastructure/future. The motto has been the same all across the land, be it in local, state, or federal governments. That motto was, "If we invest in those things now we will not be able to maintain all the services the people demand without creating the means to pay for those servic
